My Approach

When I tell people I am a music teacher one of the most common responses is

“I’ve always wanted to learn an instrument”.

You can

Although learning how to play any instrument takes commitment and hard work the benefits and skills gained are immediate and life-long. There’s an abundance of research showing that people who learn music and play an instrument enjoy increased mental capacity, coordination and concentration as well as just having fun!

My aim is to make sure that whatever your age or ability, you achieve you musical goals and, most importantly, we have fun whilst you are learning.

The enjoyment you gain from playing a musical instrument stays with you forever – you never completely forget how to do it.

It’s something you’ll always have.

Tuition Fees

The first lesson is free. This gives us a chance to meet and talk about what you would like from the lessons. For students who currently play, or are returning to piano, singing or oboe, this first lesson helps me assess your level and suggest appropriate books and repertoire.

If you wish to arrange further lessons, each half hour lesson costs £15.00.

Term Dates

For adult lessons I am able to offer lessons throughout the year. Obviously I would like a little holiday time with family at some point but agreement can always be reached!

For children’s lessons I teach during Cumbria school term times.

Children may opt to have additional lessons during the holidays, by prior arrangement with me.
